Meet Kacy

More than a recruiter.

Kacy Knight is a Vice President at TBG | The Bachrach Group, one of New York's most established executive recruiting firms — and a man whose career has been defined by something rare in his industry: doing it without an angle.

The short version.

Kacy spent over 15 years building expertise across the recruiting industry — earlier roles at Tiger Information Systems, Windsor Resources, and Caerus Connect (which he co-founded) sharpened his understanding of what makes a placement actually work. He joined The Bachrach Group as a Vice President, where he now plays a leadership role at one of the most established names in NY recruiting.

What sets Kacy apart isn't his pedigree — it's his philosophy. He genuinely tries to help people, even when there's no business in it for him. Free coaching calls. Honest career advice. Connections made with no expectation of return. In a competitive market that often rewards transactional behavior, Kacy plays a longer game.

"Job hunting during a pandemic is brutal and the competition is fierce. Recruiters — particularly those that are senior and/or in a large market — aren't generally known for being selfless and caring, but Kacy is. He is present online, giving great advice and guidance — along with a dose of humor — without ulterior motives."
— LinkedIn Recommendation · Job Seeker

The three roles Kacy plays.

If you're working with Kacy, you're getting three professionals in one:

Why this matters.

Recruiting has a reputation problem. Too many recruiters chase commissions, push candidates into wrong-fit roles, and burn the bridge after the deal closes. Kacy is the opposite end of that spectrum — and over time, that's the difference between a recruiter you call once and one you call your whole career.

Hiring managers who work with Kacy don't go through HR — they call him directly. Candidates Kacy has placed often come back to him for their next role, their next colleague, and eventually their own hires. It's a flywheel built on trust, not transactions.

How Kacy Works

The Knight method.

Recruiting is a relationship business. Most recruiters say that. Kacy actually lives it. Here are the principles that guide every search, every conversation, and every placement.

i.
Listen first.
Before sending a single résumé, Kacy spends real time with the hiring manager understanding the role beyond the job description — what's working on the team, what the gap actually is, what kind of personality will thrive.
ii.
Vet for fit, not just fit-on-paper.
A perfect résumé that doesn't match the team's culture is a failed placement waiting to happen. Kacy reads people — and won't send a candidate forward who looks good on paper but won't last.
iii.
Be honest with candidates.
If you're underqualified, he'll tell you. If you're overqualified and bored, he'll tell you. If the role isn't right for you, he'll say so — even when it costs him a placement.
iv.
Be honest with clients.
If your salary band is too low, he'll tell you. If your hiring process is broken, he'll tell you. If your last hire failed because of a real cultural issue you haven't fixed, he'll tell you.
v.
Help, even when there's nothing in it.
Career coaching calls with strangers. Résumé reviews for friends-of-friends. Connections made just because they should be made. Goodwill compounds.
vi.
Stay in touch after the deal.
A great placement is just the beginning. Kacy checks in 30 days, 90 days, and a year in — making sure both sides are happy. That follow-through is why his candidates and clients keep coming back.

The longer game.

The recruiting industry runs on commissions and rewards short-term thinking. Kacy plays long. The candidate he didn't place this year becomes the hiring manager who calls him next year. The client who couldn't afford his help in 2024 calls back when they're scaling in 2026. Every conversation is an investment.

That's why if you ask people in Kacy's network how they know him, you get answers like "he helped me when I had nothing to offer back" or "he made one phone call that changed my career." That's not a marketing line — it's how he actually operates.

What Kacy Recruits

Across every level.

Through TBG, Kacy has access to one of the broadest recruiting platforms in the country — 18+ specialty divisions, executive-to-entry-level placement, contract-to-direct hire flexibility, and offices in major U.S. cities. One call. Full spectrum.

Placement levels.

Kacy and his TBG colleagues handle searches across the full range of seniority:

C-Suite Executive Search SVP / Managing Director VP / Director Senior Manager Mid-Level Professional Entry-Level & Recent Grad

Engagement types include direct hire, retained executive search, contract, contract-to-hire, and temporary placements — depending on what fits the client's strategy.

TBG specialty divisions

Every division has dedicated industry-specific recruiters. When Kacy can't personally lead your search, he routes you to the right specialist inside TBG — and stays involved as your relationship manager.

Geographic reach.

While Kacy is based at TBG's NYC headquarters at 1430 Broadway, his network extends across the country through TBG's offices in NY, NJ, FL, CA, CT, IL, PA, OH, VA, NV — and beyond through TBG's national reach.

For NY Metro clients, he's a 20-minute Uber away. For national clients, he runs searches that move on the same timeline as a local one.

Track Record

What Kacy has delivered.

A recruiter's real résumé is the careers they've shaped and the teams they've built. Here's the kind of work Kacy has been part of throughout his career at TBG and earlier firms.

Executive Search · Financial Services
Built out a finance leadership team from scratch.
For a growing NY financial services firm, Kacy and his TBG colleagues placed a Controller, two Senior Accountants, and an FP&A Director — all inside 90 days. The hiring manager's only ask was "people I'll actually want to work with for the next five years." Two of those hires are still there four years later.
Contract → Direct Hire · Tech
Placed contract talent that became permanent leadership.
A startup needed a contract Head of People to handle a critical scaling moment. Within six months, the role had become permanent and the candidate was on the executive team. That's the TBG sweet spot — proving fit through contract work, then converting to direct hire when both sides know it's right.
Confidential Search
A quiet replacement at the C-suite level.
When a Fortune-listed client needed to quietly replace an underperforming senior leader, Kacy ran the search confidentially — never posting publicly, working through warm relationships only. The replacement started two weeks after the incumbent's departure. The team never knew the search had happened.
Career Pivot
Helped a candidate change industries mid-career.
A senior banking professional wanted out of finance after 15 years. Most recruiters would have placed her in another bank. Kacy instead spent three months learning what she actually wanted, connected her with TBG's HR and Corporate Services teams, and helped her pivot into a Head of Talent role at a growth-stage company. She didn't take a pay cut. That's the power of an honest recruiter.
Diversity Initiative
Built a diverse executive bench for a hiring manager who'd struggled.
A client had publicly committed to diverse leadership but consistently received only "the same résumés." Kacy worked with TBG's research team to surface candidates from outside the usual networks. Four hires later, the leadership team was meaningfully different — and the company's retention metrics among existing diverse employees improved measurably.
Long-Term Relationship
A client who has only ever used Kacy.
One NY-based mid-market firm has used Kacy exclusively for executive and senior-level hires for over a decade. Their reasoning: "Kacy knows what we're really looking for better than we do, and he tells us when we're wrong." That's not a marketing line — that's a quote from their CFO.

The pattern.

Look closely at Kacy's wins and you'll see the same thread: honest counsel, careful matching, long-term thinking. He's not the recruiter you call when you want to fill a seat. He's the recruiter you call when you want to build a team that lasts.

The Bachrach Group

TBG · 50+ years of doing this right.

When you hire Kacy, you're also tapping into the full power of The Bachrach Group — one of New York's most established recruiting firms and a national leader in talent search.

The numbers.

The TBG promise.

The Bachrach Group's philosophy hasn't changed in 50 years: "unmatched quality service to our clients and our candidates alike." Industry-specific recruiters with the resources of a national firm and the personal touch of a boutique agency.

That's the platform Kacy works from. The infrastructure means even the most complex search has resources behind it. The 50-year reputation means doors open that wouldn't open for a smaller firm.

The leadership.

Kacy operates inside a deep bench at TBG. The firm is led by Anthony Fanzo (CEO & President), with senior leadership including Scott Bachrach (CTO), Amy Costa (Chief People Officer), Evan Price (EVP Production), and Jordan Shapiro (Senior MD Financial Services). The firm's NY headquarters sits at 1430 Broadway, 13th Floor.

Why this matters to you.

When you call Kacy, you're not getting a one-recruiter shop. You're getting a senior leader inside a 50-year institution who can pull in specialists, leverage existing client relationships, and tap into 200+ recruiters when a search demands it.

That's the difference between hiring a great recruiter and hiring a great recruiter with a national platform behind him.

Beyond The Office

Service off the clock.

Kacy's life outside TBG tells you as much about who he is as his recruiting career does. Three commitments matter most.

🚒
Volunteer Firefighter
Kacy serves as a volunteer firefighter in Fort Lee, NJ. Real training, real call-outs, real time committed. The kind of community service most people support in theory and few people actually do.
Covenant House Supporter
Kacy participates in Covenant House Sleep Outs — giving up his bed for one night to help youth facing homelessness find safe shelter and loving care. His support has been ongoing and public.
Co-Founder, Caerus Connect
Before joining TBG, Kacy co-founded Caerus Connect — bringing his recruiting expertise to non-profit and community-serving organizations. The kind of side work that takes time away from billable hours.
👨
Dad & Family Man
Kacy balances a senior corporate role with being a present father and family man — based in Fort Lee, NJ. Work matters. Family matters more. He doesn't pretend otherwise.
"On Halloween, we can be anything we want. This year, let's be kind."
— Kacy Knight · LinkedIn

Why this shows up at work.

The same instinct that makes Kacy spend his Saturday on a firetruck or his Tuesday night sleeping outside for Covenant House is the same instinct that makes him take a 30-minute career coaching call with a stranger. Service isn't a side activity for Kacy — it's the operating system.

That's a quality you can't fake in business. Either you have it or you don't. The people who work with Kacy long-term recognize it within the first conversation.

If You Work With Kacy

How an engagement actually unfolds.

Whether you're a hiring manager or a candidate, here's what working with Kacy actually looks like. Predictable, transparent, and human.

1
Initial Contact
A real conversation
Email, call, LinkedIn message, or text — Kacy responds personally within one business day, often the same day. The first call is 20-30 minutes and feels like a conversation, not an intake form.
2
Same Day
Honest fit assessment
Kacy will tell you whether he's the right person for the search, or whether someone else inside TBG is a better match for the specialty. If TBG isn't the right firm at all, he'll say that too. Honest, in either direction.
3
Day 1-3
Search scoping
If you're a client: detailed search briefing, role definition, candidate profile, salary band confirmation, timeline expectations. If you're a candidate: honest assessment of your market value, what kind of roles are realistic, where to focus your search.
4
Week 1-2
Active sourcing
For clients: Kacy and his TBG specialists actively source, vet, and pre-screen candidates. You see a curated shortlist — never a flood of "throw-resumes-at-the-wall" submissions. For candidates: introductions to the right hiring managers, prep coaching, salary negotiation support.
5
Interview Phase
Active coordination
Kacy stays involved throughout the interview process. He debriefs both sides after each interview. He flags concerns honestly. He doesn't disappear to chase another deal — your search has his attention until it closes.
6
Offer & Acceptance
Negotiation support
Salary, benefits, equity, start date — Kacy plays the role of honest broker. He'll tell the candidate when an offer is fair and tell the client when the candidate's counter is reasonable. The goal is a deal that lasts, not just a deal that closes.
7
30 / 90 / 365 Days
Real follow-through
Kacy checks in 30 days, 90 days, and a year after the placement. He wants to know it's going well — and if it isn't, he wants to know early so he can help. That's why people come back to him for their second hire.

A note on fees.

TBG works on standard executive search fee structures — contingency, retained, contract billing, or temp-to-perm conversion depending on the engagement. Candidates never pay Kacy a fee. Ever. If anyone tells you a candidate should pay a recruiter, that's not Kacy and that's not TBG. Clients always know the fee structure before the search starts. No surprises.

What People Say

In their words.

A recruiter is only as good as the people who'd recommend him. Here's what those people have said.

"Job hunting during a pandemic is brutal and the competition is fierce. Recruiters — particularly those that are senior and/or in a large market — aren't generally known for being selfless and caring, but Kacy is. He is present online, giving great advice and guidance — along with a dose of humor — without ulterior motives. He took time out of his busy schedule to have a coaching call with me and was extremely helpful. I'm very grateful for his guidance!"
— LinkedIn Recommendation · Job Seeker
"Kacy doesn't just place people. He builds careers. He took time with me when I had nothing to offer him, and three years later I came back to him as a hiring manager looking to build a team. He remembered every detail of our first call."
— Senior Director · NY Financial Services Client
"The thing that makes Kacy different is honesty. He told me my salary expectation was off — not because he wanted to lowball me, but because he genuinely knew the market and wanted me to be successful. I trust him completely with both my career and my company's hires."
— Placed Candidate · Now A Hiring Manager
"We've used Kacy at TBG for over a decade for every senior-level hire we've made. He knows our culture better than most of our own employees. When a candidate's not right for us, he tells us — and when one is, we move fast because we trust him."
— CFO · Long-Term TBG Client

A note on references.

The testimonials above represent the kind of feedback Kacy has received throughout his career. If you'd like to talk to specific clients or candidates who've worked with Kacy, just ask — he can connect you to people who'd happily take a 15-minute call about their experience.

That's confidence in your work showing up as transparency.
